  • Capitals draft forward Jakub Vrana with pick No. 13

    With the No. 13 pick in the 2014 NHL draft Friday night, the Washington Capitals selected forward Jakub Vrana from the Czech Republic, the first selection made by rookie general manager Brian MacLellan. An 18-year-old wing, Vrana comes to the Capitals organization from Linkoping in the Swedish Hockey League, where he played 24 games last season and scored two goals. The hard-shooting left-hander was ranked the fourth-best skater in Europe for this draft class, according to NHL Central Scouting. He's the sixth straight European drafted by Washington in the first round.
