National Recording Registry adds Joan Tower's 'Fanfares' conducted by Marin Alsop

Marin Alsop is on a roll this week.  The Baltimore Symphony music director received Harvard University's Luise Vosgerchian Teaching Award on Tuesday "for her innovative approach to programming and for her deep commitment to education and to the development of audiences of all ages." The next day, Alsop's name turned up on the list of entries selected by the Library of Congress for its annual National Recording Registry -- "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" recordings that are at least 10 years old.
