William S. Sellers Sr. (November 5, 2012)
Born Jan. 16, 1928, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph Robert and Amanda Jane (Little) Sellers. He was the husband of the late Emma Jane (Caution) Sellers, who died Nov. 27, 2011.
Bill was a graduate of Chambersburg High School in 1944. He worked for Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, for 20 years. Upon moving to Hagerstown, he worked at Pangborn Corp. for more than 20 years. He later retired from the Washington County Board of Education, where he was a custodian at Marshall Street School for approximately 15 years.
Bill was an artist, painting murals at several local churches as well as the VFW, Hagerstown. Throughout his life, he would tend bar and cater private events.
He was a member of the Pangborn Bowling League and the Sunday Night Go Getters Club. He was a past member of the Goodwill Associates and the Chambersburg Cardinals football team.
Bill is survived by two daughters, Deborah L. Johnson and Karen E. Frisby, and one son, Jeffrey F. Sellers, all of Hagerstown; one sister, Margaret Sellers-Gumby of Chambersburg; one brother, John Sellers of Oxon Hill, Md.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Bill was preceded in death by one sister, Sadie Sellers Wilson Dizard, and two brothers, Joseph R. Sellers Jr. and David Sellers.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown. His pastor, the Rev. Kevin S. Munroe, will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the funeral home.
