Two Great Cacapon, W.Va., residents were killed Saturday when a Jeep Cherokee pulled in front of their 1999 Harley-Davidsonmotorcycle on National Pike in Allegany County, according to Maryland State Police.
Carole Hewitt, 68, and Charles Hewitt, 53, were killed, Sgt. William Elliott said.
A Jeep driven by Rebecca Hess, 60, of Warfordsburg, Pa., pulled out from a High Octane gas station in the Little Orleans area at about 5:42 p.m. and into the path of the motorcycle, Elliott said.
Hess and a 76-year-old passenger in the Jeep were taken to a hospital in Cumberland, Md., for what appeared to be nonlife-threatening injuries, Elliott said.
An investigation into the crash is continuing, Elliott said.
