Twirlers excel

Twirlers excel

America’s Youth on Parade Nationals recently held its 44th annual competition in South Bend, Ind., at the University of Notre Dame

Boonsboro was well represented among the 5,000 twirlers and their families.

During the competition July 23-27, two local twirlers made an impression.

Hailey Shelton competed in the beginner 12-year-old division for solo and won the national title.

Alexis Hoffman competed in the novice 12-year-old division and placed seventh in solo.  They are students of Brenda Cauffman and the Washington County Show Kids and are members of the dance twirl teams that brought home two national titles, as well as a second- and third-place wins.

For more information about the team and baton registration, call Cauffman at 301-733-1833.
