The Longmores celebrate 60 years

Mr. Longmore was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Elmer, N.J., the son of James Albert Longmore and Lilliam M Fox. He grew up in New Jersey and enlisted in the U.S. Army during the final months of World War II. He served in Germany and France as a U.S. Army photographer during the occupation after the war. After leaving the army, he worked as a commercial photographer until his retirement.
Mrs. Longmore, born Elaine Garnand July 19, 1929, in Washington, D.C., is the daughter of Roy C. Garnand and his wife, Lillian M. Peyton. She worked for Bell Telephone Co. before her marriage, and for the Fairfax County Public School System for many years.
The couple met at a New Year’s Eve celebration in 1951. After their marriage, they lived in Silver Spring, Md., where their first child, Jane Ann, who is now a journalist, was born. Jane lives in Myersville, Md.
They later moved to Annandale, Va., where their second child, June Alice, who is now a jeweler, was born. She lives in Hagerstown.
Mr. and Mrs. Longmore retired to Hagerstown seven years ago. They have a son-in-law, Mark Etheridge, of Myersville; a grandson, Nicholas Etherridge, who is a senior at Shepherd University; and a granddaughter, Emily Etheridge, of Myersville. They also have an honorary grandson, Duncan Parke of Baltimore, the son of honorary son and daughter, Steven Parke and Kathryn Ruter, all of Baltimore.
