Robert Kenneth Reed, 78, of Clear Spring, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 15, 1934, in Indian Springs, Md., he was the son of the late Samuel Reed and Rebecca McCormick Reed.
He was a lifelong farmer and in previous years was employed with C. William Hetzer Inc. for more than 46 years. He was a member of the Maryland Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Fay Mills Reed of Clear Spring; two daughters, Penny Jackson and husband, Larry, and Peggy McMahon and companion, Michael Burgan, all of Clear Spring; one son, Jason Reed and companion, Rebecca Hargrove, of Clear Spring; and three grandchildren, Shawnee McMahon, Matt Jackson and Zach Jackson.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Effie Latrell, Virgie Mills, Agnes Gossard, Dorothy Worthington and Anna Reed; and eight brothers, Ray Reed, Earl Reed, James Reed, Clarence Reed, Orval Reed, Roy Reed, Nelson Reed and Junior Reed. He was the last of his immediate family.
Services will be Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. Pastor Erik Peel will officiate. Burial will be in Parkhead Cemetery, Big Pool, Md.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday one hour prior to the service.
