“Kristin Aleshire, Mr. Don Munson, I thought you all were going to do a little bit better job than what you are doing now, talking about raising taxes. First thing the city needs to do is quit spending. You give a $1,000 bonus to all the city employees, which should be none. What you people on the city council needs to do is ride around Hagerstown and see how many houses are up for sale and take a study on how many people can’t pay the light bill and water bill before you raise taxes.”

“Thank you, Alicia, for your Mother’s Day article. Only gifted writers can provide well-told stories that strike a chord in readers, evoke our own memories and allow us to be active participants in the story telling process. Well done as usual.”

“I heard a comment on television the other day that I think goes to the heart of the current debate on capital punishment. The comment was ‘You can release an innocent man from prison, but you can’t release an innocent man from the grave.’”
“This is to let the community know that I’m very excited about the new direction of the Humane Society and the new director and what he is doing. I quit going out of there for my rest and relaxation because of how mean I was treated and other visitors were treated. I will be again visiting the Humane Society. Thank you again so much for the new director.”
“Alicia, thank you for your Mother’s Day article. You shared a well told story that struck a chord with us. You allowed us to put ourselves in your story. Well done and much appreciated.”

“This call is concerning the Washington County Teacher of the Year. I’m sure that she’s a fine teacher, but I still don’t see a need to teach Japanese in the Washington County school system when Chinese and Spanish are the two prominent languages that are up and coming languages in this world, and you probably need to get a good job in North America in the future. I don’t see any reason to teach Japanese. What a waste of time. It’s a good language to learn in your spare time if you are going to spend time in Japan, but most of these kids won’t.”
“I was away on vacation for a few days and catching up on my newspaper reading. As Tim the Toolman Taylor would say, ‘Back the truck up.’ The post office is in debt and needs to cut back on hours. They gave Lance Armstrong $40 million to sponsor him in the Tour de France? This was in the Thursday, May 2, Hagerstown paper.”
“In regard to the letter to the editor, Robert E. Lee understood the value of prayer. Wasn’t Robert E. Lee a general of the Confederate Army and didn’t the Confederate Army fight for slavery? Hmmm ... it makes you wonder.”
“I am happy to say that Mayor Gysberts took my advice and is now on the Mayors Against Illegal Guns list.”
