MYERSVILLE, Md. — Mr. Jackie L. Forsythe, 81, of Myersville, died Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.
John Arthur and Annie Dewey Poffenberger Forsythe.
Jack was a graduate of Williamsport High School class of 1948.
He was employed for 10 years with Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown, and then later with the Maryland State Police, retiring in 1974 as a sergeant.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and planting his garden.
Jack was a lifetime member of the South Mountain Rod and Gun Club, Smithsburg.
Surviving Jack are his wife, Joyce Michael Forsythe; four daughters, Jacqueline Klaus of Felton, Pa., Sue Duffield and husband, Mike, of Hagerstown, Julie Routzahn and husband, Chad, of Myersville, and Jill Boniface and husband, Ben, of Middletown; seven grandchildren, Rachel Papp and husband, Jacob, of Yoe, Pa., Ryan Klaus of Felton, Tyler Klaus and wife, Laura, of Ashland, Ore., Lane and Keller Routzahn of Myersville, and Judd and Josie Boniface of Middletown; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding Jack in death were his brother, Walter E. Forsythe; sister, Peggy Kerns; and son-in-law, Frank Klaus.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Myersville, with Pastor David Howell and Pastor Tim May officiating.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, Tuesday, March 22, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
