Given the nature of his writings, its funny to think Sigmund Freud once remarked, "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar," but popular culture, if not history, credits him with the amusing quote.

In light of the proliferation of butterflies this summer in Harford County and beyond, it's worth exploring just a bit more deeply the line credited to the father of psychoanalysis. In short, it seems the point of comment is sometimes things can be taken at face value. There's not necessarily reason to delve into the potential ulterior reasons behind certain things. They just happen to be that way.
