9. My girlfriend won't come out to her parents...again

I'm a lesbian who's been in a committed relationship with the same woman for four years. We've recently been talking about marriage and starting a family. My one concern—she hasn't told her family about our relationship. She came out to her parents a decade ago, but they've never really accepted it. I think they're convinced she'll "end up straight" and marry a man. Basically they're in denial. But I don't think that means she shouldn't confront them and be honest about being in a long-term relationship. Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

  11. Glimpsing the hereafter, or just missing loved ones?

What do you wear to visit a psychic? I pondered the question as I stood in the mirror, practicing my poker face. Would she see through my Uggs to my mismatched socks? Will she know that I dug these jeans from the bottom of my hamper? I'd made an...

A series of heavy doors slid open, one by one, at the Pima County Jail. And finally I was sitting with 53-year-old Sanford "Sandy" Garfinkel, who had just been sentenced to 16 years in prison for killing his terminally ill wife by holding a pillow over her face.

  17. Warming heart and hearth

Kitchen and chicken are practically the same thing, at least to the dyslexic and the hungry. Which makes sense. Every kitchen should meet regularly with chicken. It's the dish that scents the air, warm, comforting and homey.
