1. Reaction to Obama school speech column

Mayo on the Side: Broward news columnist Michael Mayo | Sun-Sentinel Blogs
Got lots of feedback to today???s column on the ridiculous brouhaha over President Obama???s school pep talk, some reasonable and some just downright deplorable. A sampling: From J.R. Beach -- Nicely done. Outstanding use of sarcasm. I do want to......

3. Utter arrogance of Obamacare

With (the president) promising that every American will be covered by health insurance, it's fair to ask if you and I should be required to pay for fools who put themselves in the hospital by taking stupid chances.

5. Newton: Porn, safe sex and Measure B

At first glance, the county's Measure B, which would require the use of condoms in adult films shot in Los Angeles, seems fairly hard to rebut: Other than a few self-interested pornographers, who could be against mandating safe-sex practices?

7. Study: HPV vaccine doesn't encourage sexual activity

There's been a lot of controversy over the HPV vaccine. Because Gardasil is designed to protect young people against human papillomavirus, a common sexually transmitted disease, some people believe the inoculation gives teens the go-ahead to have sex.

9. The HPV vaccine and teen sex

If you could vaccinate your kids against cancer, wouldn't you do it? The answer may sound obvious. But we can vaccinate our kids against some vicious types of cancer -- and many parents are deliberately choosing not to.

11. Campaign of misinformation against Planned Parenthood

In the ongoing rancor surrounding federal funding of Planned Parenthood, misinformation has a starring role. There have been, of course, predictable gusts of hot air from pundits like Bill O'Reilly, who asserted last month that "nobody's life is affected by Planned Parenthood," and Brian Kilmeade and Steve Doocy of "Fox & Friends," who suggested on April 9 that Planned Parenthood's non-abortion-related services were redundant because you can get your blood pressure checked and get a pap smear or a breast exam at Walgreen's. (Blood pressure, yes; the rest, uh-uh.)

13. Health Bureau finally being put out of misery

I was well on my way to writing another fire and brimstone column about the Bi-County Health Bureau, this time aimed at the Lehigh County commissioners' plan to kill it for good rather than await a more favorable economic climate.

17. STDs and sex: What you're obligated to disclose

This super dominant dude has been all into me the last couple days. He has a primary partner/girlfriend, and has been chatting me up/calling me/texting me. So we get down to the STD conversation, and turns out he won't play with me, not because I have herpes, but because one of my regular partners does. Is this normal? Was I even obligated to discuss that? Should I have even mentioned it? I mean, in a way, I was sharing someone else's secret. I'm totally unsure of my ethical obligations in this case. Do I have to tell everyone I might potentially have sex with that one of my regular partners has it?
