Judith Gilchriest, retired school counselor and reading specialist, dies

Judith Graffman Gilchriest, a retired school counselor and reading specialist, died of Parkinson's disease Nov. 9 at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson. A resident of the Edenwald retirement community in Towson, she was 75.

Born Judith Graffman in Houlton, Maine, and raised in Skowhegan, she attended Skowhegan High School and graduated from Gould Academy in 1957. She earned a degree in sociology from the University of Maine and a master's degree in reading education and counseling from what is now Towson University.
