1. Restaurant Review: At Great Sage, an appeal to all tastes

There are vegans, and there are vegetarians. And then there are those of us who dine out with vegetarian and vegan friends, who have been entertained by inspired vegetarian chefs (and lousy ones, too), and who are generally open to the idea of an occasional meatless or dairy-less meal. We might even have briefly considered the a vegetarian lifestyle. Great Sage, the all-vegan restaurant in Clarksville, keeps us all in their thoughts.

3. Restaurant review: Charmington's is a pleasant place to fill up

Sometimes all you want is some steaming soup, a hearty sandwich and an honest cup of coffee. At such times, Charmington's in Remington is just the spot.

5. Lunch review: One World Cafe is refreshingly reliable

From the outside, One World Cafe looks like it could be a small coffee joint housed in a one-story addition to a much taller brick building on the cusp of the Johns Hopkins' Homewood campus. In fact, if you walk past the few tables up front and the full service bar, you'll find it has a largish dining room with seating to accommodate, by my rough guesstimate, easily 40 to 50 diners. Its interior is not the only way the cafe offers more than meets the eye.

7. Johnny Rad's: Skateboard dudes can cook

I am fond of skateboarders. One of my sons used to be one. When our young skater used to slip away from home, my wife and I knew chances were good that he was either at "the statue" in front of the Lyric Opera House or at "the bowl" in Lansdowne, working on his tricks.

15. Sexes do battle at The Rumor Mill

Dining@Large
I realize the headline here looks like the sort of cheap "search engine optimization" ploy that Gene Weingarten lamented recently in The Washington Post. But really, it's legit. The Rumor Mill in Ellicott City will split its six-person chef staff......

19. Crazy for Carbonara

Sun Staff
Maybe all Italian food qualifies as comfort food -- the good stuff that warms the spirit as it nourishes the body -- so you'll probably think I'm as nutty as pinoli to stand up and declare Spaghetti alla Carbonara the ultimate Italian comfort food. What,...

21. Go veggie!

Finding and eating extraordinary crabs in Baltimore is as easy as getting caught in traffic on the Beltway during rush hour. Seafood is king here, so pleasing friends who refuse to eat red meat and poultry is a no-brainer in these parts.

23. THE KITCHN: How to make your own kimchi

Entree
The first few times I tried kimchi it was not, I must admit, my favorite food. Then I met my Korean-American partner, Gregory, moved in with his mom -- a superb cook -- and within a few months I was wholly converted. These days my mouth waters at the...
