Farmington Valley Arts Center, 25 Arts Center Lane in Avon, presents an open juried exhibit, “Interpretations and Inspirations,” of paintings, drawings, prints, photography, sculpture, collage and mixed media works, and also the exhibit “The Monotype in Autumn,” from Friday, Oct. 12, to Saturday, Nov. 3. Opening receptions for both are Friday, Oct. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The items in the juried exhibit were selected by Anna Rogulina, assistant curator of the New Britain Museum of American Art. Rogulina chose three top award winners and honorable mentions. The public is asked to vote to choose a People’s Choice award.

“The Monotype in Autumn” show is made up of work by eight FVAC studio artists from Avon, Farmington, West Hartford, Bloomfield, Plainville and New Britain. A free demonstration of the technique will be presented in Studio 7B on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. by Melissa Meredith.
Gallery hours are Wednesday to Saturday, noon to 4 p.m.
