“Snapshots: A Musical Scrapbook,” featuring the music of Stephen Schwartz (“Pippin,” “Wicked,” “The Magic Show”) is returning for another do-over when it will receive a workshop production this fall at Goodspeed Musicals' Norma Terris Theatre in Chester.

The six-character musical, which will have a book by David Stern, will feature some of Schwartz' best know as well as less-familiar work from his stage shows and films.

Though promoted as “a new musical,” the show has been kicking around since the ‘90s when it had a production in Virginia Stage Company in Norfolk. Other versions of the show were presented in 2005 at the Village Theatre in Washington state, 2007 at the Human Race Theatre Company and 2008 at TheatreWorks in California. It received its latest production at Norrthlight Theatre in Skokie, Ill. in 2011.

The show takes place, according to press material, “in the attic of Sue and Dan, a couple whose 30-year marriage has begun to fall apart. Together they discover a box of photographs which leads them to relive the memories of their past selves captured in the snapshots.”

The songs will have “free lyrics and orchestrations,” and will include such songs as “Popular” (from “Wicked”), “Corner of the Sky” (from “Pippin”), “Endless Delight” (from “The Baker's Wife”), “That's How You Know” (from the film “Enchanted”), “All Good Gifts” (from “Godspell”) and “Fathers and Sons” (from “Working”).

Schwartz's “Wicked” is now playing on Broadway and a revival of “Pippin” will be opening on Broadway in the spring. He is also developing the new musical “Houdini” for the 2013-14 Broadway season which will star Hugh Jackman.

A revival of “The Baker's Wife” was presented years ago at the Norma Terris Theatre.

Tickets will be available later this spring.
