7/30/2013-Sex In Politics
(July 29, 2013)
It was Henry Kissinger who said, “Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac.” Judging by how he looks and the beautiful women he dated, I have to agree. But how many women would stand by their powerful politician man as he makes his tearful confession in front of the entire world? I think about my friends when I ask the question and I have to say I doubt any of them would stand for that humiliation. My advice? Anyone who wants to stay married for life should get married at eighty. And anyone who might be contemplating a career in politics should marry the second wife first. I don’t know if President Clinton changed the paradigm or created a new one. JFK was immortalized as a lothario and grandfatherly Dwight D. Eisenhower dated his female driver behind Mamie’s back. Even Franklin D. Roosevelt had a girlfriend, but for all those presidents, the situation was secret before Clintonia. When Clinton was asked why he did what he did, he answered, “Because I could.” We have to give him credit for an honest and in your face answer. Cheating politicians are kind of like baseball players who use PEDs. They cast a shadow over those who are playing by the rules.
