“The Lost Boy” by Ron Palillo, the Connecticut actor who died Tuesday at his home in Florida following a heart attack, was not produed at Playhouse on Park in West Hartford. That information came from an advance story on the show.
Bob Dio, who was set to direct the show two years ago which would also feature Palillo acting in it, informs us that the production was scrubbed because of lack of funds.“It was Playhouse Theatre Group, Inc.'s plan to produce 'The Lost Boy' at the end of our first season,” says Playhouse on Park’s exexcutive director Tracy Flater. “It was listed in our season brochure, auditions were held, the show was cast, and then the plug was pulled. This was an administrative decision. Unfortunately, the budget grew unmanageable for our brand new organization and we were very concerned for the financial future of the theatre if we proceeded with the show. It was our hopes that as PTG became more financially stable along and as our artistic reputation and fan base grew, we'd be in a better position to support the artistic goals of both the author and director. Especially since this was an unknown new work. We are very sad to hear of Ron Palillo's passing.”
