A new musical based on the 2002 Todd Haynes' film "Far from Heaven" gets a bow at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in the Massachusetts Berkshires in July with a high-profile creative team.
Tony Award-winner Richard Greenberg ("Take Me Out') writes the script with a score by composer Scott Frankel and lyricist Michael Korie ("Grey Gardens"). Michael Greif ("Rent," "Grey Gardens," "Next to Normal") directs the show which runs July 19 to 29.
Also premiering is Lucy Boyle's play, "The Blue Deep," starring Blythe Danner and directed by Bob Balaban. The production runs July 11 to 22 at the festval's Nikos Stage.
National press is asked not to peek at the new shows but local and regional reviewers (such as The Hartford Courant) are welcome top review the shows.
"Far from Heaven" starred Julianne Moore and Dennis Quaid centering on a '50s housewife, her conflicted husband and sexual tensions that lie beneath a placid American life.
