New Haven’s Lauren Ambrose won’t be starring as Fanny Brice in the revival of the musical “Funny Girl” — at least not yet.
The Broadway-bound production which was supposed to have opened in Los Angeles at the Ahmanson Theatre in January has been postponed due to the loss of several major investors in the $12 million musical.
Bartlett Sher, former associate artistic director at Hartford Stage, was slated to direct the show which had an April opening scheduled for Broadway. The show also starred Bobby Cannavale as Nicky Armstein.
