Avon Old Farms Inn, the legendary Avon restaurant known for its award-winning Sunday brunch, has closed.
Owner Sean Daigle has sold the historic place at Routes 10 and 44 to Riverfront Catering. Daigle said the firm will operate a banquet and special occassion there beginning immediately.
"We did a great job at the inn, we increased sales during my tenure," said Daigle who bought the venue that included a restaurant and banquet rooms three years ago. "Between the construction of the truck ramp on Route 44 and the economy, it was just a wise business decison to sell it and move on."
Daigle had recently scaled down the restaurant hours during the summer with the last brunch served on Sept. 12.
Riverfront Catering is best known for operating banquet venues including the the Riverhouse at Goodspeed in Haddam
and The Society Room in Hartford. Riverfront Catering is run by Jim Bucko.
