Nearly three weeks before the Class M tournament, Avon senior Alex Dahlem predicted a win for the Falcons. Dahlem's call came true as Avon became the first northern school since Hall-West Hartford in 2007 to win a class title. The Falcons went on to win the Class M title with 25 points. Avon had three singles players (Dahlem, Sam Flaxman and Sam Aronson) and two doubles teams (Saagar Sinha and Jason Sittambalam and John Burdick and Riley VanDusen) make the quarterfinals. Flaxman and Sinha/Sittambalam lost in the finals.
The duo of Dylan Roman and Eric Venezia, a pair of soccer players and best friends since grade school, helped bring home Tolland's first individual championship in tennis with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Avon's Sinha and Sittambalam in the Class M doubles final.
Players from northern schools were shut out of individual titles for the first time in 10 years. Bacon Academy-Colchester's Zachery Bussiere (Class M) and Old Lyme's Morgan White (Class S) lost in their respective class championships.
St. Bernard's Nick Pelligrinio and Joey Strafaci needed nearly three hours to beat the Old Saybrook team of Andrew DeAntonis and Jack Rothman 6-2, 6-7 (5), 7-5 in the Class S doubles final.
