Students from the Knapp Charter Academy have been looking forward to a day away from the classroom for weeks now. They're mostly excited about the walk-a-thon, because they get to meet several contestants from the hit TV show, "The Biggest Loser," who are participating in the walk.

Regan Johnson is an organizer of the event. "We really want these kids to learn about healthy habits and an exercise routine and these women from the show are a great way to do that."

Season 7 champion, Helen Phillips, along with three other contestants from season 6 of the show, Shelly and Amy Cremen and Coleen Skeabeck plan to talk with the students about healthy lifestyle choices during their walk around the track.

The event is being called a Fund-Racer, as the school is attempting to raise $15,000 for their booster program.

The money raised will be used on field trips, and special parties in classrooms, among other events. Each child was asked to raise about $50 to contribute to the day's event.

The walk-a-thon is open to the public and it all gets started at 10:30 Wednesday morning at Catholic Central's track off Knapp Street.
