HIGHLAND PARK, Mich.—
Trial begins Wednesday for former Miss USA, Rima Fakih, in Highland Park near Detroit, according to WJBK-TV. The pagent winner is facing charges for operating while intoxicated.
Fakih, 26, was arrested on December 3, 2011, after police pulled her over. Reports indicate she was speeding and swerving through traffic without using a signal.
Once police stopped her, they found an open bottle of Moet & Chandon Champagne behind the driver's seat of her car.
Fakih has denied being drunk that night, but police say she blew a blood alcohol content level at 0.2, more than two times the legal limit.
She was the first Arab American to win the Miss USA crown back in 2010, as Miss Michigan.
