ALLENDALE—Grand Valley State University's campus hosted the regional Science Olympic for the 26th year all day Saturday.
Middle-school and high-school students from 73 schools in Kent and Ottawa counties showed off their science and math skills at the Region 12 Michigan Science Olympiad, with GVSU's Fieldhouse serving as headquarters for the day.
"the tournament is pure excitement for middle- and high-school students," said tournament co-director Margo Dill. "The students work diligently for months for this one day of competition. They are eager to compete and truly excited to be on a college campus."
Saturday's winners advance to the state tournament May 1 at Michigan State University in East Lansing.
