Under Wilson's leadership, Hartford Stage has focused on the development of new work, with 14 world premieres, eight new festivals, six Broadway or Off-Broadway transfers, as well as the creation of the Hartford Courant's 2005-Tapestry award winning education and community outreach programs. Wilson's tenure has been busy from the start. He expanded the number of the productions to include a holiday extravaganza, which provides a stable, annual source of profits; a summer series of shows; and the launch of his multi-year Tennessee Williams Marathon. He brought distinguished actors and playwrights to its stages as works introduced here moved on to other stages, including Broadway. He also started a new annual Christmas tradition, "A Christmas Carol." Wilson's awards include the Daryl Roth 2002 Creative Spirit Award, Lincoln Center Theater; the Princess Grace Foundation, 2001 Statue Award and 1992 Theatre fellowship; and numerous awards from the Connecticut Critics Circle, including the 2005 Tom Killen Award for Outstanding Contribution to Connecticut Theatre.
