¿The Simpsons,¿ the longest-running prime-time animated program in the United States, revolves around a five-member family and a vast assortment of its friends, relatives and other wacky Springfield residents. Matt Groening created parents Homer and Marge plus offspring Bart (rebellious, irreverent), Lisa (brainy, ethical) and baby Maggie (pacified, off-balance) for animated breaks within Fox¿s ¿The Tracey Ullman Show.¿ In 1989, the characters were spun off into a half-hour comedy for Fox.
