  1. 'Dancing with the Stars' recap: On the eve of double elimination

They open by reminding us that next week is the semifinals — can't believe we're there already! It's been a quick season. After the staircase introductions, we find out there will be two dances for each couple tonight and a double elimination tomorrow night.

  3. 'Dancing with the Stars' recap: Maria Menounos owns 'Classical' night

It's classical night, which means a whole lot of songs I'll recognize but not know the name of. Oh, look, it's an exaggeratedly expressive violinist and some chicks in Marie Antoinette garb. Never change, DWTS, never change. DUDES IN BREECHES AND NECKCLOTHS! Excuse me while I make up historical romance novel cover scenarios for each of these couples. Ooh, that was Joshua Bell? If you've never read <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/04/AR2007040401721.html" target="_blank">Gene Weingarten's excellent Pulitzer-prize winning essay "The Fiddler in the Subway"</a> go do so now, and come back to this recap when you're finished.

  5. 'Dancing with the Stars' recap: Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd win the Mirror Ball trophy

Tom opens calling it the "hardest fought season ever." I'm not sure about that, but I will say that this is one with a lot of strong competitors, few loathsome personalities, and a satisfying final three.

  7. 'Dancing with the Stars' recap: Week 5, Latin night performances

Apparently, the ballroom was "shellshocked" by last week's bottom two. The ballroom needs to toughen up. Tonight is Latin night. I hope that doesn't mean every other dance is a rumba &mdash; <em>booooorrrrring</em>. &nbsp; We start with Carlos Santana performing "Evil Ways," though they don't identify the vocalist.

  9. 'Dancing with the Stars' recap: Episode 2, or the Sherri Shepherd lovefest

Welcome to Week 2! Given that all the dancers last week were either good dancers or good sports or both, I'm particularly happy this is a season that didn't have a week 1 elimination. I'm looking forward to seeing everybody dance again.

  11. 'Dancing with the Stars' recap: Week 1 elimination

We start with a recap of how great Week 1 was and how barely good last night was. And then it's a pro routine, some sort of jive. If you're keeping score at home, Maks is wearing an entirely unbuttoned and untucked shirt, Tony and Val or Tristan are both going for the unbuttoned but tucked-in look and all the rest are covered up.

  13. 'Dancing with the Stars' recap: Week 3 performances

Week 3 and tonight's the first night I'll lament not hearing the announcer say "Navratilova" in that special way. And as if that's not sad-making enough, it's "their most memorable year" night. Hope your heartstrings are screwed in tight because they're going to be repeatedly tugged.

TOM BERGERON!  It's so great to see you again! Oh, hi, Brooke, you're there too. Introductions: Notable for Gavin's fedora, Maks' open shirt and Martina looking more glam than I could have ever imagined.  And now they tell us no elimination this week,...

  19. 'Dancing With the Stars' recap: It's Motown night

They start the show with a ridiculous graphic of Gavin in his rowboat on the dance floor, getting overwhelmed by a giant wave. Oh, silly dancing show, it's fun when you have a little bit of a big budget.
