‘Waitress’

A waitress in a small Southern town hopes to use her pie-making skills to escape both her dead-end surroundings and a loveless marriage. Based on writer-director Adrienne Shelley’s wonderful 2007 film (which included an Oscar-worthy turn from 81-year-old Andy Griffith as the curmudgeonly Joe), with songs from Sara Bareilles. Sounds like a can’t-miss. 8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, 2 p.m. Saturday, 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. next Sunday at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center at the Hippodrome, 12 N. Eutaw St. $42.50-$250.50. france-merrickpac.com.
