"Chicago Fire" has been spending plenty of time filming in the Bucktown area the past few months — and the neighborhood has a nearly 80-year-old pub to thank for it.

  3. Yes, another surly Harrison Ford interview

If getting reamed by the notoriously grumpy Harrison Ford is a rite of passage for entertainment reporters, you could say I was finally initiated into the club March 18. In fact, you could say a few Chicago reporters were initiated that night.

  5. 'Bitter Buddha': Spotlight's a bit brighter on pair's return

The last time I spoke with comedian Eddie Pepitone was June, just prior to the world premiere of his movie "The Bitter Buddha" in Chicago, where it screened during the Just For Laughs festival. Nine months and several tour stops later, he and director Steven Feinartz (a Buffalo Grove native) return to town this weekend on a triumphant wave of social media fervor. Both will be at the Music Box Theatre on Friday, with Pepitone performing a set Saturday at the Lincoln Lodge.

  9. Review: 'Escape From Planet Earth' an amiable adventure

"Escape From Planet Earth" — an animated adventure that's more down-to-earth than earth-shattering — builds a family-friendly sci-fi constellation out of fresh chuckles and recycled parts, a number of them from Planet Pixar. Feel-good but not cloying, zippy but not frenetic, and refreshingly free of snark, the default setting for a lot of kids' fare these days, the feature takes a pleasingly retro-futuristic stance on matters of décor and attitude.
