5. 'The Last Waltz' Showing at The Acoustic Cafe in Bridgeport on Jan. 16

The Last Waltz is the greatest rock 'n' roll movie ever made despite the fact that one of its biggest stars, the Band drummer Levon Helm (pictured), hated it. Levon passed away last year, but Wednesday night you can see and hear him in his prime for free when the Acoustic Café hosts a screening of the iconic film. Overdubs and studio trickery were utilized to make it seem as idealistic and theatric as director Martin Scorsese (and his former roommate, guitarist Robbie Robertson) wished, but all of Helm's parts were left unedited as per his wishes, and they are still somehow the most perfect performances of the lot. Oh, and Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell and Muddy Waters all stop by to hang out and play some songs too.
