( December 13, 2012 ) Mann's phenomenal in "This is 40," and since the Academy rarely recognizes comedy, the Globes were the likely place for Mann's work to stand out. Instead, only one nomination in the Best Actress, Musical or Comedy category is justified (Jennifer Lawrence in "Silver Linings Playbook") while the other four were wasted on good-but-not-great work in 2-star movies, the most egregious choice being Emily Blunt in "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen." I sure don't remember that movie being funny (or even trying to be), though to be honest I don't remember that movie at all. |
