  1. Q&A with Maryland women's basketball coach Brenda Frese

Maryland women's basketball coach Brenda Frese is entering her ninth season in College Park, and it might be the most challenging season of her stellar career. The No. 21 Terps will open their season Saturday night against Monmouth with a team so young that it does not include a single senior and a coach who has just been given the ultimate perspective check.

  5. 'Piranha 3DD': Borderline spoof is low on jokes but not on gore ✭

Few titles are more elegantly self-explanatory than "Piranha 3DD": It has killer fish, stereoscopy and breasts aplenty. Less tongue-in-cheek than its 2010 predecessor and more tongue-hanging-out-drooling, this latest iteration of the predatory piscine franchise, directed by "Project Greenlight" protege John Gulager, ups the self-parody so much that it's practically a Wayans brothers spoof, albeit with fewer jokes. David Hasselhoff is in the funniest ones.

  13. 'The Architect'

Despite an intriguing premise in which the architect of a housing project is confronted by a resident-turned-activist who wants his help in getting the place torn down, Matt Tauber's "The Architect" feels schematic and contrived, like a game of four-square between Ibsen, Le Corbusier, a television executive and the Chicago Housing Authority.
