  1. 'The X Factor' recap, The long-awaited live shows begin

Despite a slightly bumpy road to get here, we’ve finally made it to the live shows. After baseball had interrupted the last two weeks causing scheduling problems, "X Factor" finally got back on course, with two new hosts. On the latest episode, Annapolis native David Correy performed a Whitney Houston song with mixed results (more on that later).

  7. 'The Voice' recap, Ooh, the teams are almost half full

Teams are nearly half-full on NBC's "The Voice," which can only mean there's at least a solid week left of blind auditions. Good thing the blinds are so fun, but that doesn't mean there's not a healthy dose of heartbreak thrown in.

  11. Q&A: Baltimore's Quinten White in 'Sparkle' Singing Challenge

On July 14, Quinten White's aunt called him and told him about a singing competition happening in the mall next to the store she works at. The contest, which promotes Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks' new movie, "Sparkle," has each contestant sing their own version of a song from the film. Quinten, 28, intrigued and excited to have an opportunity to show off his singing abilities, went to the tryouts and proceeded to beat 40 other Baltimore hopefuls. The West Hills resident is currently a finalist and represents Baltimore in the "Sparkle" Singing Challenge.
