  1. O.C. weekend watch: Ravens, traffic and lasers

It's now summertime (unofficially) in Ocean City and some of you will be hitting the shore for the first time since last year. I took a gander around town during last week's Memorial Day celebrations, looking for new places and new faces. If you're headed over for this weekend's <a href=&quot;http://www.baltimoresun.com/travel/oc-blog/bal-tr-oc-ravens-beach-bash-0417,0,993542.story">Ravens Beach Bash</a>, here are some tips on changes at the beach that you'll want to know about:

For some, the first signs of spring are warmer days and cherry blossoms. For others, the season truly begins with the arrival of the new concert season at Columbia's Merriweather Post Pavilion.

Dick Clark, who died Wednesday at the age of 82, is rightfully being hailed as a pioneer of popular culture. And that's fair enough. In the 1950s, '60s and '70s, the reach of his daily"American Bandstand"show and his myriad prime-time special productions...

  7. Like/dislike: Nick Prevas

Nick Prevas is truly an &ldquo;artist of all trades.&rdquo; The 30-year-old Charles Village resident writes and directs films, works on graphic design projects, plays guitar and sings in the band White Lodge. He even handles communications and media for the American Visionary Arts Museum. Originally from Highland, Prevas tells b that there&rsquo;s no place he&rsquo;d rather be than Baltimore: &ldquo; There&rsquo;s just an energy to our city like no place else. I lived in L.A. for a few years and couldn&rsquo;t ever get the vibe there like I can in Charm City. There&rsquo;s no pretense (most of the time), you can connect with genuinely creative and talented people and there&rsquo;s some weird inspiration I get from living here that just can&rsquo;t be put down in words.&rdquo; Through that inspiration, Prevas creates film shorts and music videos that have been shown at festivals and galleries across the country. Most recently, he co-produced a video of artist Scott Weaver showing his 100,000+ toothpick sculpture, &ldquo;Rolling Through the Bay,&rdquo; which you can see looping in AVAM&rsquo;s current exhibition &ldquo; All Things Round.&rdquo; On Saturday, Prevas will perform with White Lodge at the Windup Space in a tribute to Tom Waits. Here, he talks to us about Soul Cannon (who he created album art for), his dislike for romantic comedies and the ambiguity of fanny packs.

  9. Adele, Hudson and the energy of archetype elevate Grammy telecast

I haven't watched a Grammy telecast all the way through in quite awhile. As much as I love the great TV-music moments when they happen, there haven't been enough of them lately to keep me tuned in when all the wretched excess, bizarre productions and self-absorbed, pop-star silliness inevitably arrived. Furthermore, I always felt the main reviewing rightfully belonged to the pop music critics at the paper on Grammy night.

  22. Restaurant review: Dick's Last Resort raises the bar for pub grub

&quot; Are you here to sell me something? Or do you wanna drink?"
"Are you here to sell me something? Or do you wanna drink?" Thus did a dodgy looking 20-something greet us upon our entering Dick's Last Resort at the Inner Harbor's Power Plant complex. My first thought was: "Does this guy really think I look like a Bev...
