Their 1995 release, "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness," was proclaimed album of the year by Time, Rolling Stone and Spin. They have won Grammy Awards and headlined the Lollapalooza rock festival in 1994. In 1998, they gave all the proceeds (more than $2 million) from their North American tour to charity. The Pumpkins first broke up in 2000. Corgan then released a solo record, formed and disbanded Zwan and then, with Chamberlin and other musicians, reformed the Pumpkins.
