1. Mike Preston: It doesn't matter how Suggs hurt his Achilles

There has been a lot of speculation that Ravens Pro Bowl outside linebacker Terrell Suggs injured his Achilles tendon while playing basketball. Suggs has denied that it happened that way, but who cares? If that tendon was tight and going to tear, it made no difference if he was playing basketball, wrestling, practicing karate or running sprints.

  3. Generational nonsense at commencement time

This is the season of generational twaddle. At graduation ceremonies across the country, politicians, authors, actors and businessmen take to the stage to tell young people they are fantastic simply because they are young. This year, the ritual is more pathetic than usual because there's a presidential election in the offing. And because the current occupant of the White House won in 2008 in no small part due to his success with the "youth vote," he is desperate for them to repeat their blunder.

  5. Friday Buffet: The strange and sad demise of 38 Studios and Big Huge Games

On Thursday, the entire staffs of 38 Studios and Big Huge Games were given pink slips. The company, which released “Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning” (which I reviewed in February), was in partnership with the state of Rhode Island to bring jobs into the state and give former MLB pitcher Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios fuel to evolve into a big-time game developer. The company was in the midst of developing a project called “Copernicus,” an MMORPG based in the same universe as “Amalur.” Big Huge Games, based in Timonium, became a subsidiary of 38 Studios almost three years ago to the day.

  9. 'Dancing with the Stars' recap: Week 3 performances

Week 3 and tonight's the first night I'll lament not hearing the announcer say "Navratilova" in that special way. And as if that's not sad-making enough, it's "their most memorable year" night. Hope your heartstrings are screwed in tight because they're going to be repeatedly tugged.

  11. Q&A: The-Dream on 'Love IV,' writer's block, the Weeknd and 'wack' R&B beef

The word "brilliant" is too often abused by hyperbole, unless you're describing Terius Nash, better known as the prolific 34-year-old songwriter and R&B singer The-Dream.

  13. Adele, Hudson and the energy of archetype elevate Grammy telecast

I haven't watched a Grammy telecast all the way through in quite awhile. As much as I love the great TV-music moments when they happen, there haven't been enough of them lately to keep me tuned in when all the wretched excess, bizarre productions and self-absorbed, pop-star silliness inevitably arrived. Furthermore, I always felt the main reviewing rightfully belonged to the pop music critics at the paper on Grammy night.

  21. Review: A$AP Rocky at Baltimore Soundstage

When A$AP Rocky’s DJ dropped “Brand New Guy,” a thunderous track from last year’s “LiveLoveA$AP,” the sold-out crowd at Baltimore Soundstage lost it. And so did Rocky and his Harlem, N.Y., crew — 90 seconds in and they were stage-diving as if it were a well-earned encore. It was the fourth song of the night.
