  5. SXSW 2013: The music stories to watch

On the final night of the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas, last year, a young folk-rock trio from Denver took the makeshift stage at a church a few blocks away from the main action down on 6th Street. They also happen to be mother and daughter, a fact they are reticent to admit when first meeting them. “I always refer to my mother as Carolyn when I talk about the work,” smiles Simone. “Being mother and daughter usually comes up much later in the conversation.”
