    Happy 'Watch the Throne' Day
Watch the Leak? Not this time. Jay-Z and Kanye West's much anticipated collaboration, Watch the Throne, was released how they wanted it to — on iTunes this morning at 12 a.m. — without a leak. That alone is impressive (sorry Mom and Pop...

Rick Ross and his Maybach Empire celebrate album, foolishly leave off 'Perfectionist'
Rick Ross is the most consistent — and arguably the most important — rapper working today. Hip-hop's crown changes heads with swift regularity (ask me tomorrow and I could say Kanye West or Lil Wayne based on whatever new leak was liberated)....

Grading the Leaks: New songs from Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Nas and Big Sean
Here’s an understatement: the rap blogs were busy yesterday. It seemed like every hour, there was another leak from a big-name artist. Kanye West, Nas, Big Sean and Lil Wayne were all victims of Hulkshare liberation. But now for the important part:...

Drake eyes the 'Throne' on the instant classic 'I'm On One'
In January, Drake facetiously told Tim Westwood that he heard “some other guys” — Kanye West and Jay-Z — were doing a joint album. He even inferred the titans jacked the idea from him and Lil Wayne. It’s a funny shot...

Trae the Truth's voice provides the low-end on 'Gettin' Paid'
Posting this for any rap fans unfamiliar with Trae, a hometown hero from Houston, Texas. His voice, a gravelly but melodic bass (at least I think; haven't taken a music theory class since, well, ever), often commands whatever track he jumps on. He raps...

On Lil Wayne, 'Sorry 4 the Wait' and lofty, misguided expectations
How do you know when an album is done? When to stop? You don't. When they tell you. When 'Tez call me and tell me and say, "You got such and such date is your deadline to stop," I be like, "Aight." 'Cause I never stop recording, obviously. So it's just on...

Watch this now: Frank Ocean, 'Acura Integurl'
Frank Ocean's soon-to-be-rereleased album, Nostalgia, Ultra., is a grower. When I first heard it in March, it seemed like a better-than-average debut a few rare flashes of brilliance. But I wasn't bowled over. For every slick no-brainer ("Novacane,"...
