1. Machine Gun Kelly hops from Warped Tour to MMG slot

  3. Grammys 2012: Stay home if you're not Adele

Welcome to the Adele show. Just as she dominated radio this past year, Adele will likely walk away with a handful of shiny gramophones on Sunday night (8 p.m., WJZ/CBS). But this is show business - there are no guarantees (except that host LL Cool J will make us cringe at least 12 times). There will be performances, of course - Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Nicki Minaj and even Adele, taking a stage for the first time since vocal cord surgery. And then there are the awards. Check out our breakdown of the four major categories, including predictions on who should and will win.

  5. Grammy nominations: Put your money on Adele

Voicing disappointment over Grammy nominations is similar to complaining to your friends at recess that your 70-year-old teacher just "doesn't get it." In other words, it's pointless, other than feeling slightly better that you made the injustice known to people who can't do a thing about it.

  7. Baltimore's hip-hop weekend: Lupe Fiasco, Mobb Deep, Wale

Lately, Baltimore has been booking more hip-hop shows (The Throne will be watched Oct. Nov. 1, while J. Cole, Yelawolf and Young Money's Tyga will all be here in the fall, too), a welcome trend for a city so close to bigger markets Philadelphia and Washington. This weekend is particularly stacked: Lupe Fiasco's "Generation Laser" Tour (with D.C.'s Wale) hits Merriweather Post Pavilion Friday and the legendary Mobb Deep plays the new Baltimore Soundstage Sunday. All three acts are stopping by at interesting points in their careers. To break it down:

  11. Album You Need: Kendrick Lamar's 'Section.80'

While the Internet salivated over an album cover (an album that has produced one song that was both terrible and forgettable), the best rap album of 2011 — thus far — had been available for purchase two days before. Kendrick Lamar quietly dropped Section.80 on iTunes late Friday night, and to sleep on it would be mistake. The West Coast rapper has gained blog traction thanks to a dexterous flow, but it's how he uses it that really inspires. With each song, Lamar challenges himself to not only tell a story, but to also attack the beat in ways lesser rappers simply wouldn't consider. He's a rapper's rapper like Outkast's Big Boi — the joy is in the execution, and the payoff is a finished product unmistakably their own. The big news surrounding Lamar is he's working with Dr. Dre on something called Detox, but his story is more interesting than a guest verse on a mythical project. Like many others, he's a proud, young black man finding his voice in America (a topic touched directly and indirectly all over Section.80), but he has a gift very few possess, and it comes across in his rhymes. Watch his video for Hiii Power, produced by J. Cole, below.

  13. September 28: Turned up

Music we can't wait for Summer, you were a blast, but if we have to endure Pitbull's innocuous "Give Me Everything" or the pounding piano of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" one more time, there could be blood in the streets. Luckily, fall has arrived...

  17. October 17 - October 23 in nightlife: J. Cole, Double Dagger, Jackson Browne

The third Baltimore Beer Week came to a close Sunday. Over 300 tastings, homebrewing competitions and lectures were squeezed into the event's 11 days, sending thousands of beer lovers to bars in the city and the county. How did this year's event compare to last year's? Heavy Seas' Hugh Sisson had said before the week started that one goal for 2011 was to spread out more events so that there would be more quality instead of just an abundance of stuff for fans to pick from. Were organizers successful? Are you happy bars will now "go back to being a beer bar, instead of a packed bingo parlor," as Baltimore Liquor Board chairman Stephan Fogleman has tweeted? This week, will be far more low-key. The major music story won't be happening in town, but in New York, where the CMJ Music Marathon will get underway Tuesday. In town: there are concerts by Jackson Browne, Double Dagger, and Ami Dang.
