Oakland Mills opened up its season Saturday, splitting a double-header at home. The Scorpions suffered a 3-0 loss against Westminster, before rebounding with a 3-0 win against La Plata.
“The second game we played so much better,” said Oakland Mills coach Christina Hewitt. “We certainly played as a team. The girls played hard and aggressive. They were communicating.”
Hewitt said her team could have been nervous against the Owls in the early game, which may have been why the team got the season off to a slow start.
“Game one we were just flat,” she said. “Maybe some jitters got to us.”
