1. Rod Wanted Elton And Freddy For Supergroup

If Rod Stewart would have had his way, three very familiar faces would have formed a supergroup called Nose, Teeth & Hair. In his autobiography Rod: The Autobiography, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer writes he once proposed forming a supergroup with pals Elton John and Freddie Mercury of Queen. He writes, “Elton and I spent a long evening…with Freddie Mercury, a sweet and funny man…discussing the possibility of the three of us forming a supergroup. The name we had in mind was Nose, Teeth & Hair, a tribute to each of our remarked-upon physical attributes. The general idea was that we could appear dressed like the Beverley Sisters. Somehow this project never came to anything.”

  3. Freddie Mercury biopic moves forward; Sacha Baron Cohen to star

Queen guitarist Brian May has reignited talk of a long-gestating Freddie Mercury biopic when he confirmed a shooting schedule and Sacha Baron Cohen’s participation as Mercury. While that information sinks in, think of Cohen, best known for his star-turns as bumbling Kazakh journalist Borat or flamboyant gossip reporter Bruno, strutting onstage in a bright green leotard singing “Fat Bottom Girls,” or reenacting key lyrical moments from “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Plans to produce a Freddie Mercury biopic appear to be in place, according to Queen guitarist Brian May, who wrote on his blog, “The pieces are all falling into place…filming is now scheduled to start in the Spring, with Sacha Baron Cohen playing Freddie. The film should be ready for release early in 2014. We did make some other plans, but they will have to stay under wraps for now.”
