( December 27, 2012 ) Whenever contemporary jazzmen make jams full of melodic horn lines and bebop-type solos that reach back to Charlie Parker and Miles Davis, they're called "young lions." At least, they were. At 43, Texas-born trumpeter Hargrove isn't so young, but he sounds that way, both on his own boisterous albums such as 2008's "Earfood" and appearances on forward-looking R&B and hip-hop tracks by artists from Common to Erykah Badu to Femi Kuti.
