  5. A Caribbean-Themed Block Party at the Wadsworth in Hartford

    In conjunction with Hartford's Taste of the Caribbean and Jerk Festival, this month's Thursday night Art After Hours is a summer block-party celebration of all things Caribbean, including gobs of reggae and calypso music, decorative arts, a costume parade (open to party-goers), a station to get your body art on, caricatures by Joe Young, games and a showing of a newly released, excellent documentary about the life of reggae legend Bob Marley (pictured) at 8 p.m. Stuff yourself with Caribbean food (for an extra cost), including Jamaican patties, coco bread, jerk chicken and rum punch. It's a warm-up of sorts for the Jerk Festival, which takes place all day Saturday at Hartford's Mortensen Riverfront Plaza.
