1. Patti Smith indulges her affection for traveling, Baltimore

Patti Smith has a soft spot for Baltimore, dating back to the early '80s, when she and her husband would visit the city for soft-shell crabs and beer.
Patti Smith has a soft spot for Baltimore, dating back to the early '80s, when she and her husband would visit the city for soft-shell crabs and beer. These days, she "hardly ever" gets to play in Charm City, so when her current tour gave her a day off...

3. Like/Dislike with Myxolydia Tyler, actress

Growing up in Rocky Mount, Va., Myxolydia Tyler loved watching local theater company Jack Tale Players. "I was in awe of how they told stories, and then I saw 'A Raisin in the Sun' on a high school theater trip, and that began my love affair with theater."

5. 'The Voice' recap, audience power ... finally

After the disappointing culling last week, we're down to the final 12, and from here on out, only audience votes will help our favorites move through -- no more coaches' saves.

7. 'The Voice' recap: Battle Rounds week 3

NBC billed the second-to-last battle rounds on “The Voice” as one of the most unique and memorable performances in the show’s history. Well, they were right. Pity the weirdness – or predictability? – came in the form of the battle between live-at-home punk rockers The Shields Brothers and breathy, warbling former model Erin Martin. Not going to lie, it was horrible. Almost in a good way.

9. 'Vampire Diaries' recap: Episode 16, '1912'

They tried to make me go to rehab. I said no, no, no.
They tried to make me go to rehab. I said no, no, no. The Amy Winehouse lyrics are fitting for this episode in which Damon tries to help Stefan with his drinking problem. And I’m talking about blood, not alcohol. Stefan seemingly has two...

15. Clothes don't make the woman, but they can be her undoing

Having been a fashion model back in the day, my ever-stylish mom gave me a subscription to Vogue, the magazine she calls "the bible of the fashion world." Her gift is probably a subtle hint to dress up a little so we won't have to ask for a booth in...

17. MTV Video Music Awards 2011: Stray thoughts and musings

When we look back at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, we will remember two things: 1) This Jessie J thing is not going to happen, America, but it wasn't for lack of effort, and 2) Beyonce and Jay-Z are having a baby. For a two-and-a-half hour show, you'd think there'd be more memories, but this year's event lacked the electricity it somehow musters up each year. The water coolers are extra quiet this morning.

23. Lana Del Rey knows how to love in 'Video Games'

In a time where every artist utilizes multiple social-media outlets to make a name, it can be difficult to separate the aesthetic and the art. In the case of singer Lana Del Rey, the 25-year-old New York City singer born Lizzy Grant, she offers a couple headscratchers: a self-proclaimed groaner of a title ("gangster Nancy Sinatra") and strange genre-definers (her Facebook says her music is "Hollywood Pop and Sad Core"). On most days, this would have me running for the hills, yet here I am, listening to "Video Games" repeatedly. Ignoring an artist's questionable "marketing" strategies becomes much easier when the songs are good. And "Video Games" is excellent.
