New flights put tourist hotspot Iceland in easy reach

Tourism in Iceland is white-hot, and it's about to get easier for Chicagoans to jump on the trend.

Icelandair launches year-round, nonstop service March 16 between O'Hare and Keflavik International Airport near Reykjavik, making Bjork's homeland a mere six-hour flight away.

It's a homecoming of sorts for the Iceland-based airline, which pulled out of the Chicago market in the '80s. It announced plans last year to resume service with four weekly round-trip flights (www.icelandair.us).
