  • Team spirit sparks two wins for Wahoos [West Laurel]

The West Laurel Wahoos swim team has begun its season with a big splash. Winning the first couple of swim meets is only part of the story. Camaraderie, teamwork and lots of dedication and practice are the recipe for a fun and rewarding season. Win or lose, the Wahoos always have fun. The big kids look after the little kids; the developing swimmers cheer on the more skilled swimmers. It's all about the team. Parents and families have a great time, too. The first win was over Montpelier and the second over West Arundel - both great Laurel teams. Last year was a winning season for the Wahoos and the team hopes to keep that up this summer. Helping achieve that goal were triple winners against West Arundel: Kayla Hendershot (girls 11-12 fly, free and IMs); Ted McWithey (boys 13-14) and Erin Kane (girls 15-18). Double winners were: Taylor Murray (girls 7-8), Christina Storzer (girls 9-10) and Noelle Dawson (girls 13-14). There are many sweet summer memories made with the Wahoos.
