1. Golden Globes: They're Here!

The TV Zone
Da boys did good at da Globes... The Golden Globes - Hollywood's silliest awards - seemed to me kind of un-silly in the TV categories, but a coupla exceptions. Check 'em out below... Observations? The obvious ones. "30 Rock"......

3. Interview: Sarah Polley on 'Stories We Tell,' Justin Bieber's mistreatment

Sarah Polley's fascinating documentary “Stories We Tell,” opening Friday, offers many storylines worth discussing. The actress/filmmaker, who uses the movie to pursue the real identity of her father and the truth about her late mother's life, easily has the brains to put her mouth where her money is. Yet our interview at the Hotel Palomar comes to new and unexpected life at the mention of one of Polley's countrymen: Justin Bieber.

5. 'Les Miserables': Looks like the front row ★ 1/2

I wouldn't be surprised if "Les Miserables" became the most popular movie musical since "Mamma Mia!" On stage, both diversions were, and are, easy to enjoy in their diametrically opposed ways. "Mamma Mia!" revels in Greece, glitter and ABBA; "Les Miz" wallows in France, sewers, good, evil and revolutionaries with fabulous hair.

7. 'Bring It On' mission: Spread good cheer

As they prepare for their Chicago opening Wednesday, the cast of the touring cheerleader musical "Bring It On" is sitting, cheerfully, in Des Moines, Iowa, working on major changes to its Broadway-bound show.

9. 'Mama' review: Worse than 'Mamma Mia'

*1/2 (out of four)
*1/2 (out of four) First Jennifer Lawrence had “House at the End of the Street.” Now her fellow best actress Oscar nominee, Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty”), has her own PG-13-rated horror nonsense with “Mama,”...

11. 'Rock of Ages': Broadway's tribute to '80s bands loses something on screen, and in the starring role ✭✭

Onstage the ABBA love letter "Mamma Mia!"made the jukebox-musical trick look easy and enjoyable. On screen, less enjoyment, more strain — but people love their ABBA, their Meryl Streep and their Greek islands. And the movie did the trick for those who never miss a Pierce Brosnan musical.

13. Oh 'Mamma Mia,' you're showing your age

THEATER REVIEW: "Mamma Mia!" at the Oriental Theatre ★★½ ... It will be 13 years in April - oh, the horror of it! - since I first sat in the back of London's Prince Edward Theatre and watched this brilliantly clever confection basically define a new kind of populist musical.
The director, Phyllida Lloyd, has moved on to a movie about Margaret Thatcher, but the song stylings of ABBA will surely outlast the Iron Lady. And "Mamma Mia!", the story of a girl with three potential dads on a Greek island where they have no Facebook,...

15. 'Iron Lady': Meryl Streep's exacting performance buoys an offbeat biopic -- 3 stars

Some movies arrive pre-stamped with a consensus opinion. With "The Iron Lady" the consensus so far is this: Meryl Streep excels as Margaret Thatcher. And the movie itself does not work.

17. A holiday night's dream? Well, mostly

A few final thoughts about the holidays, and then we'll move on.
A few final thoughts about the holidays, and then we'll move on. Silent night? Where? I'm still waiting. We stayed up well past midnight Christmas Eve playing Scrabble. It was loud and hyper-competitive, just what I look for in a holiday like Christmas....
