The first five books have been made into successful motion pictures with the sixth due in theaters in late 2008. The movies follow Harry (played by Daniel Radcliffe) through his education at Hogwarts, a school of magic located in Scotland. Other actors in the films include Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Richard Harris, Maggie Smith, John Cleese, Gary Oldman and Ralph Fiennes.

In 2007, Universal Orlando announced plans to add a major Harry Potter area to its Islands of Adventure theme park. It will be known as "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" and is set to be completed in late 2009 or early 2010, with cooperation of Rowling and the movies' set designer, Stuart Craig.

For Kathryn Carlson, the holidays are not just about family, food and gifts — they’re also about dance. The 30-year-old native of Somers Point, N.J., joined the Ballet Theatre of Maryland in 2003 as an apprentice dancer after graduating from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Just one year later, Carlson was promoted to company member. Since then, she has performed roles such as Katrina in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” Guinevere in “Excalibur” and the title role in “Cinderella.” As Carlson begins her ninth season with BTM, you can see her dancing multiple parts including Clara, Snow Queen and Arabian in their annual performance of “The Nutcracker” this weekend. Here, she talks to b about everything from local music to her greatest inspiration.

The very best movies of the past year went back to the earliest years of cinema for their subject matter, but 100 or so years amount to just a few film frames when you consider that some of the other movies in this 10-best list went back to the dawn of time for their stories.

  22. Breaking Dawn movie reviews

I think it's a rip-off to break the book into two parts, but critics don't seem to mind. And I'm sure die-hard fans won't.
I never liked the idea of taking a book and splitting it into two movies -- as happened with "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" and is now happening with "Breaking Dawn" of the Twilight series. I've always said, if you can cram "Gone With the Wind"...
