Christopher Plummer, the heavy favorite to win Sunday’s Best Supporting Actor Oscar, got this weekend off to a welcome start by winning the Spirit for his performance in “Beginners.”
Plummer, a long way of plenty of years removed from his stint as Capt. Von Trapp in “The Sound of Music,” wasted no time getting in the spirit of the Spirits.
“It’s taken me the longest time to realize that the Spirit Awards have nothing to do with booze,” Plummer said in accepting his award. “A pity that.”
